Morning routines, positive mindset

“Michael, I just read a good book the other day… The more I think about it, the more I realize that I’ve been the biggest obstacle to my own success…. My mindset has sabotaged my success, and I just feel that if I had the same mindset as when I was 18, I would have capitalized much more on my experiences over the last couple of years”….

I hear over and over how people get stuck in”ruts”.   We all get caught in them from time to time.  The problem, though, is when we look back to see that we’ve been in one for the past several years…..

Have you ever been to a seminar or high time in your life, and feel like you could never come down? I’ve been there…. I think we’ve all been there.

But then we find that time goes by, and we’re back in the same rut we’ve been in for so long….

What I’m getting at, is if we want to achieve a new fitness goal, weight loss goal, career goal, etc.., we’ve got to have a positive  mental state.

BUT, that mental state doesn’t just show up on its’ own.  Jeffry Gittomer (One of my Ubermentors) summed it up as the following:

“If you seek a positive mindset, and a positive attitude, you  MUST expose yourself to positive information and positive people”. If you want to achieve positive, you have to surround yourself with positive and live it”.

OK, so I’m hoping you understand the gist so far: If you want to achieve high aspirations, you’ve got to have a positive mindset….. Here’s the catcher, though…..

A Positive attitude doesn’t just “show up”…. it MUST be nurtured on a DAILY basis.

I’ll say it again; if you want a positive attitude, you’ve got to nurture it DAILY… period.

I’ve found that the most successful people I’ve interviewed didn’t just point to one seminar, or one life’s event to describe why they’ve got a great attitude.  Instead, they point to CONSISTENT nurturing of a positive mental attitude on a DAILY basis…… Listening to birds…. watching the sunrise….reading a postive book…. praying….. being grateful for life’s blessings…..(If not easily found, working to FIND some of life’s blessings)…..

Sound hokey?  Yes.  But I’ll be up front: A positive attitude IS hokey.  However, working on your attitude can be the difference between laying a life face down in bed for the last 10 years of your life (like my father did), or choosing that no matter what event happens to you in life, you’re going to persist in finding the positive.

Me? I try to read a couple pages of something positive every morning.

-ANYTHING by Charlie “Tremendous” Jones

You DO have a choice to be a positive person, and you DO have a choice to attract (or repel) success.  However, if you choose to be positive, you MUST work at it on a daily basis.
